EU FIC REGULATIONS ON FOOD LABELING - VANDEMOORTELE’S RESPONSE (with respect to B2B food information – Art. 8.8 of FIC)
The EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation (EU FIC) (1169/2011) sets out a number of obligations with respect to mandatory and voluntary food labeling.
The legislation requires that all food business operators, at all stages of the food chain, must clearly communicate this list of food information to customers:
- Name of product
- Ingredient list
- Allergen declaration
- Quid (Quantitative Ingredients Declaration: the quantity of certain ingredients as a percentage of the final product)
- Net quantity
- Best before date
- Storage conditions
- Name and address of food business operator
- Country of origin if required
- Instruction for use
- Nutrition declaration
