In the FINN sustainability ranking 2022 of Belgian companies, Vandemoortele made it to the top 20. This score places us among some big players in Belgium!
For the third year in a row, the communication agency FINN analysed how 50 of the largest Belgian companies reported on their carbon emissions.
Focus points
The ranking focuses specifically on the commitments around the reduction of CO2 emissions and on Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). In this light, FINN evaluates the completeness of the company reporting: whether there are clear targets set, concrete measurements and numeric results.
FINN also highlights the challenges linked to the non-financial reporting, like the lack of global standards to report on carbon footprint. The agency also provides some general suggestions to improve the quality of reporting.
LOOKING FORWARD
As described in the FINN ranking as well, the approval of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) got closer in the beginning of this summer. The CSRD aims to create a system that will define sustainability standards with uniform, proportionate, understandable, verifiable and comparable information. The directive will gradually apply to all EU companies, including Vandemoortele.
Our presence in the top 20 companies of this ranking, can be seen as good feedback on the efforts taken to get closer to compliance with the new directive. However, this is just a start!
