The creation of added value, the development of leadership skills and a good sense of focus are the cardinal components of the Vandemoortele strategy, which is being put into practice by a total of 2,682 staff across Europe. Our HR policies assist managers and staff in realising these objectives, whilst focusing on the following three key areas :

These HR programmes serve to support the Group in fulfilling its ambitions whilst creating opportunities for development for both individuals and teams alike.

Personal development and coaching
The "performance management" scheme is the basis for assessing, steering and coaching the performance of our employees. Using private interviews on the one hand which ensure that every worker is clear about his or her contribution to the enterprise as a whole and about the relevance of his or her duties in realising the strategy of the Group, these interviews on the other hand also serve as a basis for furthering the personal development of the employee concerned. Using a competence management system, managers and staff hold the tools and resources to advance their own self-development.

Internal communications
All of our workers are given direct access to immediate information about the ins and outs of the Group through the intranet. A total of 22 plant managers and commercial managers across the whole of Europe are able to post messages on-line, which means the intranet promotes communications in all directions and between all countries. Internal communications within Vandemoortele Group are further supported by the publication of a quarterly magazine ‘Topics'. Published in 5 languages, 'Topics' meets with an eager readership among all our staff. In addition, the Soy Division runs its own magazine publication, ‘Focus''.

Corporate culture
An increasing amount of attention goes out to our corporate culture and the way in which our managers coach their workers. Through internal training and international management conferences, our managers are given the opportunity to develop into coaches in the true sense, guiding their teams in establishing objectives and improving business processes.
